How do I know which one I want? There are several models. Is there a brief rundown of what is what with the G-shocks? I want an all or mostly black one. Otherwise, I dunno. If anyone has a link for a decently priced one, feel free to share. |
| I have the GW-500A and love it. Mine is the Solar/Atomic time model. The first thing you need to do is decide how big of a watch you want to wear. Some of these things are HUGE! Mine is one of the smaller models. The only downside I have heard is that some of the early models had issues with batteries not lasting very long, but they seem to have been resolved. I paid about $80 for mine at the Air Force Base BX. |

I have an MTG-900 Solar Atomic with a metal case/band. I have to put it in a certain window on on side of the house to get the daily update to work due to inteference but other than that I love it. I can't recall how many times I have caught the band on something and it didn't snap in two! Get one, you'll like it. |

Our local Costco has the black/rubber Atomic Solar watch. I want to say it was $40. I would get it, except the one I bought several years ago (solat, no atomic) is still running strong and accurate. Basically, you cant go wrong with any of them. You will never use all the features. Find one that looks good and is on sale. If I were buying one today, I would check out the one at Costco. It was in a clear plastic package (on the main floor near the computers), not in the jewlry display case. |

I just picked one up a couple weeks ago. I've been wearing Timex' s for ever, but I decided to give Casio G-Shock a try after reading all kinds of good comments on them. I picked up a red and black Solar Atomic (GW300A-1V) at Target for $80. It is a bit 'large' but, who cares? In theory, I never have to set it or change the batteries! Here's the one I got: Casio G-Shock GW300V-1A |
|
I bought the GW-002KA at the BX. Atomic time keeping, auto on/off light, and black/OD to match BDU's. It is also built like a tank. watch |
|
I'd avoid the plastic ones and get a steel one like of these: www.casio.com/products/images/GW1400/xlarge/ |
I can't say that I've ever seen a plastic G-Shock fail. Ever. I've had three and I've lost them all before any of them broke. Every one of them saw serious work in The Army and my other exploits. And there's too much shiny stuff on those metal ones. |
|
Great watches for the price. Mine is so old it's not even listed anymore. The face crystal is cracked and the protective covering around it is about half gone. I've had it long enough to have put three batteries in it. The bands will break but it takes a lot of abuse before it will. I'd go with one of the basic models that have a count down timer, stop watch and alarm. That really about all you'll ever need. |
I've been wearing this one for a while now:![]() www.casio.com/products/Timepiece/G-Shock/DW5600E-1V/ The website is saying $69, but it can be found for cheaper. I have no complaints. Good all around watch. |
Yup. I knew there was one out there, and that it was rare. I have a nasty Yellow one and a black one. I wish they'd reissue the tan. |
Dude! That's the birth control model.
|
I love that model but i keep tearing off the plastic covers. Best watch I ever owned. |
So you're telling me that's why she never called back?

got an original like the one pictures ablove withthe indeglow- cept mine is not "glo" 18 years and still going strong- you can look on amazon.com - they still ahve the classic for like 40 bucks here funny how the site says 2 year battery- mine is now 18.5 years and running!!!!! |
Costco has that same watch right now for $40. A really good deal. |

I don’t even know what’s out there these days. I have two G Shocks that are 10 and 15 years old. One of them was my motorcycle clock and spent about 20,000 miles strapped to the handle bar. I still wear them. A buddy of mine has a G Shock that’s about 20 years old now. I borrowed for Desert Storm in ’91 and returned to him after a 6 month deployment. He is still wearing that watch today. Pick one you’ll like as you’ll have it for a while. On a side note I one asked a guy who sold $5000 watches what he thought of my 15 year old G Shock. He took a long pause and said: “Hideous, but totally functional”. |

It turns out the Baby G-Shock I got for christmas once is a girl's watch. |
|
www.casio.com/products/Timepiece/G-Shock/ What about the Pathfinder series? Are they as dependable? |
Hah you have the World Cup Soccer model, far geyer than my girl's baby G- shok! www.casio.com/products/Timepiece/G-Shock/ |

GW300...the same one reccomended above. They have had alot of problems with the solar battery. I still reccomend the Frogman. |
Well, that would explain what happened to me a few weeks ago. The watch -GW300- wouldn't display. I set it in the sun for a day to recharge the cell, but it went dark again. Found out it needed a new back up battery. Had a tough time finding anyone who wanted to fool with it. The local Rolex repair guy ended up doing it. Ten bucks; and he said he said he was going to begin charging twenty since it was a royal pain to work on |
I'd love an answer to that one myself....I've been taking a REALLY long look at the PAW1200... www.casio.com/products/Timepiece/Pathfinder/PAW1200/product/PAW1200T-7V/ |

Nice watch! I wonder how much that Titanium one costs. |
I got the same one pictured in the first pic off ebay for $175.00 about two years ago. Not sure if they still make that model. |
|
I got it for LApolice gear, but I beleive it is the same band. |
Thanks I just realized I have one in the truck glove box that I forgot to put on my watch, only been about 6 months |
