Having lived in Miami for a few years and dated a 1st gen cuban chica, let me tell you that every month or so rumors take hold that Castro is dead.  Riots break out in Little Havana, Cubans block off the streets and highways in celebration and general mayhem abounds for several days.

Cubans want their own country back. There are expat Cubans in the Miami area who have already worked out plans to set up a new government if they can hit at the right time after Castro dies.

Wow...my dad did his last 2 years in the Navy stationed at Guantanamo Bay, 1955-1957. He said that he spent the entire time in a watch tower with a pair of binoculars...staring at a Russian in another watch tower who was staring back at him. Dad was only a 21 year old kid then...he turned 70 last June.

For some reason this happens every year at this time.

I did a google search, the last castro dead rumor 2 weeks ago, and found stories of "castro dead" from aug of 2006, aug 2005 and aug 2004...

Just the anual castro is dead rumor.  Eventually they will be right.
