Used to be able to find all sorts of shit with Google, now nothing. Then again, I remember when WebCrawler and AltaVista gave the best results. It happens to every search engine/crawler - they hit a point where the crawlers and search algorithms are giving the best possible results. It stays there for a year or two, and then it all goes to shit - the hackers and spammers figure out how to abuse it and fill the results with nonsense, and the companies get greedy and start letting people pay to put their page at the top of the list. It gets worse and worse and then everyone gives up on them. Then you spend a few months or a year hopping search engines constantly to find what you want until someone starts up a new site that gives marginally better results, and after a while they hit their peak and the cycle continues on in its depressingly destructive way. Google is at least half way down the slope between peak and worthless at this point, catering to those with deep pockets, and caving to political pressure on all sides. They managed to stay at the top longer than the others, but it won't save them from the same gruesome death. |

There is no way that the conflict in date wasn't known, and at some point, a group of decision makers for google made the choice to go this route instead of either nothing, or something to commemorate the Christian holiday.
