End Racial Profiling: Barack Obama cosponsored federal legislation to ban racial profiling and require federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to take steps to eliminate the practice. He introduced and passed a law in the Illinois State Senate requiring the Illinois Department of Transportation to record the race, age, and gender of all drivers stopped for traffic violations so that bias could be detected and addressed.
Wait a sec. If they have in fact commited a traffic violation, then they're going to get pulled over for the violation, not the race/age/gender. So if at the end of the quarter 90% of all the speeding tickects happen to go to white/55/males, does that mean it's profiling white male mid life crisis types? I know I know..... |

Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.
Read the last sentence in the above paragraph just in case you still believe any of that fucking bullshit about Obama not taking your guns. Banning them IS effectively taking them away. Not just from you, but from future generations who will never have the opportunity to buy a new *whatver they label as "assualt weapon*. |
