Does anyone use Chase quick deposit on their cell phones? Does it work worth a damn and is it safe? I'm a little leery of using me cell to deposit checks.

I don't use Chase but I use USAA's equivalent service and it's always worked very well for me.

Yes I use it and have never had any issues. Makes deposits incredibly convenient and easy.

I have it with my bank but never use it since I very seldom accept checks at the shop

What about it makes you nervous?

How do you feel about making large cash deposits at bank ATMs?

I just used it (for a different bank) for the first time last Friday or Saturday.  Funds were in the account Monday AM.  It was pretty neat and could save some time on trips to the bank.  I'll have to use a bolder pen next time though; I had to snap a pic of the back three times because it kept saying that it couldn't find the endorsement.

Is this where you take a pic of the check?  I've done it twice with no issues.  Love the feature.

Works just fine.  The only problems I've ever had is when the scribble on the check is illegible or their servers at Chase are done.  You'd be amazed how good the character recognition is though as I've RARELY had the program return an error for being unable to properly read the check.

What safety are you worried about?  If they fuck up the deposit, you've still got the physical check and they've got a photographic record so you can go in and sort it out.  That said, I've deposited hundreds of checks using it and have never had a deposit fucked up.  I typically save the physical check for a week or two and then shred it.  They usually post the deposit to your account within 24 hours.

I can't think of how it could be risky for the depositor unless you ditch the check and then some problem comes up.

But it could turn into a convenience for check forgers.  It seems to me that all you'd really need is a copy of a signature and some photoshop skills to make a fake check good enough to pass this test.   You'd still get caught eventually but someone's going to be stupid enough to try it and cause some grief.
