been looking at some of the less expensive lights out there. anyone have any of the cheap ones? Ive seen a few on ebay and amazon for cheap but I've never heard of the brands.
Looking to use primaraly as a hand held light but I would like the option of using a gun mount for a little nighttime predator hunting / raccoon around the chicken house shooting
Anyone have any suggestions?

This is my EDC light.

Very bright and about $25

ETA I would not recommend a cheap light mounted on a firearm as they aren't built to handle the recoil.

Most of the firearms mounted use Im thinking of will be on a 10-22. gut the option to put it on the AR would be nice.
Just dont have the available cash for some of the really nice "name brands"

FWIW

I had mine mounted on a 12 gauge and have fired about 50 shots with it and have not had any problems with my light yet.

Just wouldn't trust my life on it lasting as long as a Surefire though.

Best I can find for under $100. Cheaper is better.

That's a "better" budget (in a sense), than you think.

Idk whether they are "rated" for an AR, but, I ran these 2 Streamlights before upgrading to a SureFire. I currently use the bigger one at work, wife unit has the smaller one. I didn't really notice 'issues' with them at the range.

Streamlight 88040 ProTAC HL - $65
Streamlight 88031 Protac 2L - $40

Mounted with;

VTAC Light Mount - $25

ETA another Streamlight:

Streamlight PolyTac - $34

This is CHEAP and BRIGHT
Less than $5

Also it looks a LOT like the one that is for sale in the NRA Store for $39.95

I have one and it is my EDC... Aimless had a thread where he bought one and posted his impressions...

At this price range you should be looking at the mid-range tactical lights with Cree XML LEDs, like Jetbeam, Klarus, EagleTac, Nitecore, etc.

Check out the Klarus XT11. I believe it's shock-proofed specifically for weapon mounts. Amazon has it for about $75.

Check out Primary Arms. Got their basic weapon light and so far it's great. Super bright and decently priced.
