Ok, I have never done this before so I want to make sure I dont kill myself .If I take the wire and plug out then reconnect the two together and set it on top of the engine, will that work to check for spark? |
| Yep just make sure it's grounded out onto something metal and watch for spark. You can also take a screw driver and put it in the end of the wire and hold it up to something grounded and it'll throw an arc too. That way if the plug is in a shitty location you don't have to pull it out. |
The WRONG way. Remove a plug wire and attach a fresh spark plug. While you hold it have a friend crank the engine. The RIGHT way. Remove a plug wire and attach a fresh spark plug. Have a friend hold it while you crank the engine. The BEST way. Remove a plug wire and attach a fresh spark plug. Clamp the metal body of the sparkplug to a known good ground. Use a remote starter switch or have a friend crank the engine while you watch and listen for spark. ( This last method will not use up friends as fast...) |
