| What are these trucks like? What is the comparison to the S-10,Ranger,Tacoma Etc.I`ve only seen a few on the road but look okay. |
| I was thinking about a GMC Canyon but after I added up the price for what I wanted and how I was going to use it, I am now leaning towards a Ford Sports Track. The GMC has a little better gas milage but I like the Ford V6 over that inline 5.I look at trucks for a year before I buy so in 2005 I should be getting one but then again it may be 2006 so I can look at the new Honda SUT which will cost more than the ford. But hey as long as my 1996 chey runs with no problems why rush plus I am also plan on paying cash. |
Lots of interesting new small/midsize trucks in the pipeline. Dodge is redesigning its Dakota, Mitsubishi will introduce a Dakota-based truck of its own, Nissan will offer a high-horsepower V6 for the Frontier, and Toyota will up the power output of its surpercharged V6. About the only company that isn't doing any major small truck changes is the one that probably needs some changes the worst: Ford...

It isn't a V5, but an inline 5. Engine has a ton of pep, even more than the 4.3L in my Blazer. Might just be due to the weight difference in the two. Were I in the market for a new pickup, the Colorado or Canyon would be my first choice. |
...except that they turned the front end upside down (headlights on the bottom, daytime running lights & turn signals on the top). It looks very funky on the road (moreso than in print)...definitely not a truck that I'd be proud to own. The inline 6-cylinder that the Blazer/Envoy SUVs use is nice, but lopping one or two cylinders off it for the Colorado strikes me as typical GM cheapness. IMO, they still doesn't take small trucks seriously. |

I just bought a Tacoma and love it. For my needs it has plenty of power and plenty of cargo space. I gets decent gas mileage and I feel as though I got a pretty good deal on it. I looked at the Canyon/Colorado trucks and they are just plain ugly. The front end looks upside down, and quite frankly, I was a little less than impressed with the quality of the fit and finish of the vehicle. Body and trim panels that just didn't quite line up, loose trim panels on the inside of the doors, and when I test drove it, there were about 30 different rattles and squeaks inside. I test drove the Tacoma and it was rock solid. Again, before I get smoked by all the domestic supporters, this is just my experience. I'm sure someone will come along and point out just how and why I am wrong. -REAPER2502 |
That is one thing I love about the 4.3 and one reason I was sad to see it go. 6000 lb. towing capacity isn't anything to sneeze at. |
