Or you could get a Nissan Frontier. It's like a Tacoma, except with a big-boy truck frame (Tacos are C-channel), rear disc brakes (tacos have drum brakes), and a big boy bed (not made of fiberglass). Oh, and they don't command the ridiculous price premium that Tacomas do. I remember looking at Tacos, I almost bought one. Until they wanted me to pay $27k for a used taco, so I got a brand new Frontier for a lot less.
ETA: Colorado with a V-8 is only available with lowered sport suspension and 2-wheel drive. |

Only ever did maintenance. |

I'm certain there is no reason for the price discrepancies. None at all. Better products are always far less money. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I own a 2005 Colorado. Its an ok truck. Honestly, if I could go back and do it all over again, I would have spent the extra money on a silverado or sierra. I've been toying with the idea of trading the colorado in towards a 09 or left over 2010 silverado. However, the truck is fully paid off, has low miles, and has been good to me so far with no mechanical problems... so I'll probably end up hanging onto it a bit longer because I'm not really eager to get into another car loan.

I don't know why all the haters here but my wife has an 05, 4 door, Z71, loaded. I've always done the routine maint. and she has never had any problems with it. Not a bad truck at all to us. Even the worst of car companies can produce the occasional acceptable one (insert winking smilie face here). Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
| I was recently in the market for a small truck to replace my aging 1/2 ton Chevy [changing needs as well] looked at Colorado's, Frontiers, Tacos, etc......I went with a very nice 07 Ranger with low miles. It beat all the others, in terms of options I wanted, mileage, and price. |

Price is waaaaaaaaaay too high for the 05 with that kind of mileage. Also, many 05 I5s had a valve leak problem so I would stay away from the 05-06.
I have (& love) a 2005 Colorado ZQ8 Crew Cab. I needed a 4 door vehicle but wanted a truck bed to occasionally haul things. The Colorado fit the bill perfectly. My Colorado has 115,000+ miles and the only problem has been the cats. Other than that it has performed flawlessly. On our last two roundtrips (FL - VA - FL) we averaged 24 miles per gallon doing 70-75. What would I change if I could? I would have put the affore mentioned 4.3L engine in it. I had 2 go over 200,000 before I sold them. My son has a 2006 I4 Colorado with ~ 60,000 miles. It has had zero problems thus far. My wife likes the Colorado so much that she wants a ZQ8 Crew Cab for her next vehicle. We looked at the V8 but the loss in gas mileage vs the I5 is probably too much. My needs for a truck (4 door car with trunk) are probably different than the OPs needs. I am just sharing my thoughts as an actual Colorado owner. |
