I remember being in Chicago back in 1998 for a few weeks for some training with the company I worked for at the time. On one weekend, myself and some other trainees went into the city and decided to take one of those bus tours. The tour guide was pretty laid back and chatted with us a bit. Anyway, he was talking about all the architecture of all of the buildings, and was touting how great their architects were. Then he started talking about that building with the diamond angled roof... and how they have to close the sidewalks when ice forms on it, since that shit will fall off and kill people.
I said after that "I thought you said your architects were SMART!" The whole bus laughed hard. |

Trapped motorists complained via cell-phone and e-mail messages that they still saw no sign that help was on the way. It was impossible to tell exactly how many were still out there. "At least no one is getting hurt," said one of the stranded motorists, Mark Van-Veen, who at 3 a.m. said he had been trapped in his car for nearly 9 hours. |

Looks like a light dusting of snow and people are stuck in their cars and waiting for da gubberment to come save them? ![]() |
