| I am just wondering why there are so many opinions and sects that are based on the same basic structure, the list of different denominations are too numerous to mention, but why? I really want to know. I will most probably not respond to my own topic here, I just want to hear the explanation as an observer rather than a debater. Thanks |

Usually a mixture of theological differences and/or ethic differences. For instance, the split between Catholic and Orthodox was a split between the Greek speaking Eastern Empire and the Latin speaking western Empire. Also differed as to the authority of the Pope. |
| I was not going to reply, however, I am looking for a deeper answer, other than ancient language barriers, an answer more applicable to modern Americana, the church on every corner with a different ideology issue. Is it just me or is Christianity supremely divided? |

I am amazed at how surprised you are at the secularism of Christianity considering that the three dominant religion of the earth are all based on Abraham and all three are secularized to the tenth degree. Well not amazed so much really. I am really quite used to it at this point. I think I could perhaps be wrong about the top three thingy. Buddhism may have nudged Judaism out of the top three religions of the world but it's a moot point because even Buddhist's are secularized. Indeed the list of denominations of accepted religions are too numerous to mention but it does not compare to the list of religions that were and then were no more before Yahweh was discovered. For example people in for the sake of argument living in Norway were quite happy believing that Odin was the all father long before Christ was born and at about the same time that Moses was busy herding the Jews through the Red Sea. IMOpinion because I am not Humble any person who thinks they know how the Universe was created or if indeed by who it was created by anyone is an idiot. The facts as I see them are we live on a planet in a remote region of the Universe. We are quite fortunate in this because we to date haven't had to deal with exploding nebulas, black holes and the nastiness of relatively close Star going into supernova. I am constantly amazed at the simple minded stupidity of people who continue to subscribe to the belief that the Universe was created by some OMNI Potent being before even the Omni potent being itself could have existed in a Void of nothingness. As if at one point in (for the lack of anything else to call it) time there was nothing. Then suddenly in the nothing a God appeared and decided to create, Oh I don't know, a Universe. Then it all went down hill from there. The fact of the matter is, as far as I can tell, the Universe always existed. No one created it. No one can destroy it. Thats my story and I'm sticking with it. |
