| Anyone else deal with this? Anyone have any pointers for dealing with it? I was diagnosed a year ago and most the time it's either nonexistent or tolerable, but when it flares up it sucks hard. |

Been dealing with it for a number of years. Did this...
No coffee after breakfast No regular tea after lunch Lots of green tea any time. No lemonade or limeade No sitting too long on hard chairs All this helps a bit but with a flare-up you just deal with it. Cipro is useless for this as you likely already know. |

No, sir. Cut back on the cofee big time and stick to water when it gets bad. Flomax helps me as well. I wouldn't wish this shit on anyone. That's a good start. Now go to the health food store and get Turmeric pills. Take as directed. It's a natural herb that relieves inflammation. It worked well for me. |

I found uroxatral to be more helpful/less side effects than flomax. Avoid carbonated beverages/soda/beer/etc. They may not have been able to culture any bacteria but it still may be the cause so avoid sweets (soda/beer) as they can fuel the infection. Um.... quit/cut back smoking as well. Maybe try to get healthier/lose weight and see if that helps. Generally just try to live healthier and stress less and it will not flare up as often.
ETA: It's been a few years since I've had any problems with it but I distinctly remember thinking (as previously posted) that I wouldn't wish that shit on my worst enemy. It's just not right. |

Been there, done that. It's like a kick in the crotch. I had a flare up on a trip once and had to spend a whole day laying on the backseat because I couldn't sit down. |

I appreciate the suggestions, seems better as I don't drink much soda and gave up on liquor. Trying to kick the smoking as well. To the poster who mentioned cranberry juice, no, it makes it worse. Acidic beverages are my enemy when there's a flare up. Just hoping to hear from someone who has gotten better with time. Most people have had lousy luck with their urologists, but mine has been very frank about it as well as helpful. I believe this is a result of being a sufferer as well.
Fuck man, I'm 28 and I'm pissing like I'm 82. |

I have it at age 23 I got it after I started riding a 2 stroke dirt bike. I sold it and quit riding for a while. There for the first few months it stung when I pissed, couldn't sleep, hurt enough to not be able to take my mind off of it, ect. It is much better now with time but I still get flares and I notice it the most when I lay down in bed on my back for some reason... I have found that getting in a hot epsom salt bath helps, staying away from high acidic foods or atleast not a lot at one time, and sometimes massage helps... sometimes it seems to make it worse. I've done 2 months of antibiotics: no help Cystoscopy: nothing seen Herbal supplements MD recommended: can't tell if helping or not |

I've had issues with this in the past –– nothing like being in extreme pain and having no idea why. I found that if I cut back on coffee and rode my road bike less (I had been riding 100+ miles a week), I had fewer problems. Hang in there and good luck Ask for Bactrim DS as a antibiotic - break them in half and take them daily for about a month. Hot sitz baths.. |
