I have a 2005 Dakota 4x4 4.7 engine with the 545rfe transmission. It has been throwing a code p0700 and p2706. From what I have read this may indicate a bad solenoid pack.
I can source one for about $250.00-$300.00.
I am pretty good with mechanical things. I can overhaul engines, manual transmissions, etc. but have never done any work on automatics except for R&R, filter changes, and changing the pump on a 727.
Is changing the solenoid pack within the scope of somebody with above average mechanical ability?

Changing the shift solenoids is easy.  If you can rebuild engines and manuals, you can do solenoids in less than an hour.
