I did it again, tonight. This is the last night I'll be doing this - eating this sort of thing on a regular basis will flat out kill you. Or make you fat. Either way.

Is it chili? Well..no, honestly. Not by any honest definition of the word. But I'll tell you this - if there is ever a Civil War Part II, the losing southerners WILL be eating this in the prison camps. They'll need to acclimate to Northern life sooner, rather than later.

I'm just trying to help.

In all seriousness, I'm not sure what to call this, other than awesome.

So...have a plate of awesome, next time you're hungry.

It is really good.

I'm surprised there's not more support for Cincinnati style chili here. It's the only way a lot of these basement dwellers will ever get a 3 way.

Never had it but always liked chili mac, I'd give it a try.  I'm not a chili purist/fanatic though, I eat it in all it's delicious forms.

Its okay.  Its kind of a mess to eat.  Good dutch oven fuel too.

LOL at the "OMFG it ain't CHILI" crowd.  If it was called Cincinnati Spaghetti, nobody would think twice about it.

Used to work for a company HQ'ed in Cincy. They flew me in for a couple of interviews and one of them was a fairly low pressure day, complete with a lunch of....Skyline Chili.

I liked the company, the city, my immediate boss, his boss, and a few other great folks up there, but damn. Really?

We do it, because Texans eat an abortion called "Frito Pie" (dirty little secret of theirs - chili purists they are not), and us Northerners have a better way. Speaking of which, you're looking at a 5-way.

I'm a hard core chili purist (no beans, lots of actual chilies, no ground beef, and lots of cubed beef). This isn't really chili. This is me, celebrating my heritage. This is me saying "Fuck you, Texas! I'm gonna pour chili dog sauce and beans over noodles, and you're going to be force fed it, during the second Civil War!".

Or something like that.

It could even be drunk food. I dunno.

If Ohio-ans were really as rebel-like and clever as they fash themselves, they'd've thought ofa cool name for that slop they mistake for chili.

Perhaps a contest is in order to rectify their lameness?

I'll send one windowed P-mag to the winner, if we get an estimable number of entries.

I'll prime the pump: Ohio g(h)oulash.

I've been eating spaghetti and meatballs 2x a day all week because it's a new recipe and I keep screwing it up (I forget ingredients, or add too much of something) so I make it over.  Took 3 times to get it right.

went there plenty of times during my years at University of Cincinnati.  The one by campus was open until 4 am on weekend.  I can't get it up here in Toledo tho, so I only get it when I am on a road trip

I used to live in NW Ohio (Fulton County). It's a bit of a culinary wasteland.

There are a few bright spots (my cousin is married to the heir of the Rudy's Hot Dog throne), but for the most part, the pickins are slim.

Camp Washington is awesome when you are drunk at 3AM, and I was really big on the CW bandwagon for a long time, but the there are two big problems with it.

1.  They keep their noodles in pots of water.  90% of the time when they are preparing the dish, they just tong out a big bunch of it and slap it down on the plate, not even shaking it or straining it or anything.  So it's water fucking city.  And it waters down the Chili, in a bad way.

2.  Their oyster crackers suck.
There are probably still some awesome indie places to eat Chili in Cincinnati, but the best Chili experience hands down after spending years and years of research and eating it in every chain and shithole in that town is Skyline.
And Gold Star is too sweet and the meat is too chunky and not seasoned enough.  People who like Gold Star over Skyline are... wierdos.

The Toledo locations all closed down by the early 2000's.    Too much Chili Dog saturation in that town (Dudleys, Rudys, Tony Pacos, and the other one I'm forgetting).  Too bad about what happened to Dudleys.  There is still Lima though, I'd road trip for it.

The Skyline at OSU in the 1990's had a liquor license.  Nothing like going out drunk to get a three way and getting... more drunk.

Yep 12th and High.  All of the dirty piss smelling awesomeness that was that little stretch of High was razed years ago and replaced with Urban Outfitters and other sterile boring things.
