I have noticed that stubble and facial hair is much more socially acceptable now than when I started my career 30+ years ago. Scruff and 5 o’clock shadow? Not problem. Beards, mustaches and goatees? Not a problem either, just be neatly kept. I have actually not touched a razor for about 5 years. Beard trimmer a couple times a week which leaves light stubble. When I noticed others were doing it, I followed suit. It has been so much better for my skin. I just don’t think clean shaven is required in most professions now including white collar. Any others notice the same trend? |

| Razor blades have gotten expensive (if you bug Gillete crap) and beards keep your face warm. I've been clean shaven once since I went to college 20 years ago. |

For all of my career I had to be clean shaven for SCBA use. Just recently retired and have been debating about growing a beard. Last time I tried about 35yrs ago it looked like a dead cat on my face. Yesterday I went to the store to buy razor blades. HORY CLAP they are expensive as F! So I may do the beard. |
I don't know nothin'. I just post here.

I've had at least a mustache and goatee since mid high school. Full beard for most of the last 20 years. Turned 50 this past September. When it gets hot in the summer, I'll mow it down too a # 2 or 3.. If I cut the sides off, it'll be fully regrow in a month. |

You should visit the Shaving sub forum- go double-edged safety razors. Problem solved. I did this about 12 years ago, and that’s the only way I shave now. You’re welcome. ![]() |

| I can't stand having any stubble at all. My hairs aren't particularly thick or fast growing and by bedtime I'm already annoyed with the whiskers. |
