C: Drive shows 10.0gb free of 120.
Drive is a 500gb drive partitioned 120/345. I checked all the folder and nothings there. What gives?

Assuming this is windows, go to administrative tools, then disk tools. Format the second drive.
Partitioning a drive will only reserve the space by writing a table in the master boot record. You need to actually format the drive so that it will set up a file system on that particular partition. If you installed windows on the first partition, it did the formatting for you and ignored the other partition. |

Clean out your temporary internet files and then post your results. Do you store your personal files and data on C:?
eta: Also check your page file size under System in Control panel. Advanced System Settings > Advanced Tab > Settings button > Advanced Tab > Change button |

If you have the Operating System install disk, just stick it in and reboot the computer and follow the prompts. You'll have the option to format and install. It says either upgrade or custom. It says if you select custom, you might lose files. That's what I did the first time with no luck. |

I want a clean install. I thought I could reformat C drive and then boot from disc but I'm getting mixed info on whether that will delete my system drivers. I tried to redo the install and now there's not enough room on C left over to even try anymore since Windows adds about 5 gigs. Is there a way to format C without losing all my device drivers? I just want a clean install. All information I wanted saved has been transferred off the computer already. Don't care about maintaining the partition since I can out it back later. |

Don't care about maintaining the partition since I can out it back later. Are you changing from a different OS? With that much space taken, I think you might have installed the OS along side your old one. If you want a true clean install, you need to: 1. Go download your system drivers from the manufacturers and save them on the other partition. 2. Reformat C drive. 3. Install OS on C: 4. Install system drivers. 5. Run windows update 6. Install other programs you need. |

This is just a whole lot of "ow." Op, what has most likely happened is one of two things. 1. When you did the fresh OS installation, you selected to NOT format the C: partition, so it bundled up all your old shit and put it in a folder most likely labeled "windows.old" 2. When you did the fresh OS installation, you selected to repair or upgrade (or something similar) the existing OS. Which most likely netted you no change, unless you were upgrading. Please start by opening the C: directory so we can see it's contents, if "windows.old" is there, then we have problem one addressed. Also, before doing anything else please follow these instructions
