How do you young guys clean your flat screen TV's and computer displays?

Do you use a mix of alcohol and water, just water...........etc.???

Slightly damp rag with water only.

People clean tvs?  I thought you just replace em when you can no longer see through the dust.

Actually, when wall mounted and angled slightly downward, it doesn't get dirty.

Use an oily gun rag, that oughta do the trick. The oilier the better. In fact, put some gun oil in a spray can if possible, and give 'er a few squirts. Brass brush around the edges.

Have you ever looked in the computer case of a heavy smoker?

I am beginning to think this is the Arfcom preference.

If you increase the brightness, it will negate the dulling effect from the layer of dust/smoke so you can go longer without replacing.

With the same little foil-wrapped wipes used to clean glasses

If I have some handy, I use this.  If not, I grab windex or whatever glass cleaner I have.  I've done that on... I couldn't count how many hundreds of TVs and monitors.

The important bit is this:  DO NOT SPRAY THE CLEANER ONTO THE TV.   Spray it on your RAG, then wipe the TV with the rag.  I've seen it where people have sprayed the screen directly, cleaner ran down under the bezel, then wicked back up between the various thin, close layers that make up an LCD panel.

I did some reading on this topic earlier in the week.

White vinegar/water, 50-50 mix and a microfiber cloth worked great for my plasma.  I used one of the cloths for cleaning eye glasses.

It was amazing how dirty the screen was.

Let me check with my maid.
She has weekends off so I'll ask Monday. I doubt the butler or chef know.

My 58" plasma screen never really gets to the point where I need a "wet solution", it simply acquires a light dust cling.
I just use a wide camel hair paint brush to "paint" off the dust.
I did clean it once many years ago using a very very dilute soap/water solution and a terry cloth towel.

They make these little moist towelette things for cleaning screens.  I buy the bulk pack and use it on my phone, laptop, ipad, TV, et al.

I hit it with one of those static duster things, and then the screen wipe if it needs it.

I still have a can of screen cleaner around here somewhere -- I think.
Flat screens don't need cleaning as often as the old CRT models, because there's no high voltage to attract dust.
