Wondering what this is? Go check out the event thread (CLICK ME) I am Coca Muad'Peep Atreides, Penalty of Arrakis. The Hand of God be my witness, I am the Voice from the Suffering World! I have led you to EMESIS! Attached File Obstacle 0 presents a challenge every year. Dedicating the time and funds to travel is appreciated, thanks for joining us. The new road made traveling much easier this year, with just a few struggling on the new path. Thanks for persevering, and gratitude for those who ventured out to bring in those who wandered among the sands. A few small vehicle mishaps this year, but nothing permanent that I’m aware of. Huge appreciation to those who helped prep the early weekend ensuring the event was so successful. Big appreciation for the much equipment hauled in and trailers drug to and from. Snow during the early weekend gave us a glimpse of what might be ahead but the weather during the event was quite comfortable. Each day warmer than the last until the final day when it was hot enough to shed layers and bring out the shorts. It was great to see old friends and make new ones. I’m once again impressed with the quality of people who come out to enjoy the suffering together. This year was a ton of fun and very low drama. I appreciate that greatly. It’s easy to be concerned looking around the world we live in. I find immense joy and relief in knowing such excellent people exist. There is good in the world - you are proof of it. Huge thanks to all the event staff and volunteers who took the time to prepare for the event. To score runners, keep people safe at the range, call hits, reset targets, cook DELICIOUS food, help handle logistics, get porta potties to the site, a wonder CUCV water buffalo, hauling trailers and a MOUNTAIN of other things that needed doing. I appreciate everyone who “saw a need and filled a need” as the event went on. A special shout out to Baja Gringo for providing many tables, shade, trash trailer, and cooking implements. Thanks to HDLS for all his long days of toil to keep us fed. To Josh for delicious dutch oven chicken pot pie. Huge thanks to my father for coming out and feeding us the largest dinner of the event on Friday. So much tasty barrel smoked chicken and sides. Dutch oven cobbler!! If anyone went hungry, it was their own choice to blame this go around. Anthem_of_the_mind for the water trailer, helping with so many things, coordinating the bathrooms, running the kids course and so much more. Everyone tasked with minor or major items, sometimes with little notice or even without request. THANK YOU ALL! A shout out to GFOX who hauled me into town when the upper control arm broke on my truck. Luckily the car hauler trailer had ample room to fit and haul a truck (1/4" clearance to spare ![]() Attached File Attached File Thanks to the sponsors, for sending an overflowing amount of swag for us to enjoy. Some attendees felt the love of cola so deeply they too donated items to the prize table. Red dots, chef aprons, tourniquets, hats, stickers, patches, etc. Shout out to 8edeuce who donated the first aid / stop the bleed give aways so we can get better at staying alive and keeping each other alive. If you won something or were awarded something at this event - go track those sponsors down. Hit them up on social media, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, their websites, email them & call them. Make an order for the things they sell and leave notes about loving their support of Cola Warrior. Review the items they make, design, and sell so others can find their wonderful products. Have an issue? Please contact the sponsor directly to address. If there is an improvement to be made - they LOVE feedback and improving their wares. I'm excited about the hard work everyone put in preparing themselves physically and training to perform better. there were fewer obstacle penalties this year. This was a highly penalized event due to the challenges at the range. 21 pistol targets and 16 rifle targets made for a tough course. The importance of building up a shooting position, quickly scanning the field, and engaging targets was driven home. This year being able to build a tall unsupported position was critical with a 6" target shot standing off hand at 150 yards. CW West is a great place to learn how important high-capacity magazines can be (also known as standard capacity). Be ready in life for injuries that cause the need for offhand target engagement. Never give up in the face of the challenge, find a way. Though house Harkonnen may lay siege with battalions of steel shock-troops - we can yet prevail! Thus we have come to the end of our dune, the worms sleep and peeps subside. All who attended, I hope you learned something about yourself. A strength you didn't know you possessed. A weakness you identified __ to turn into a strength. I look forward to hosting West 12 and seeing how everyone improves. The families who attend, I can't wait to see your kids grow and improve, learning to challenge the world. See you next year :). If you saw families enjoying themselves and think yours might enjoy the trek next year __ bring them. We really do mean a family friendly event. People from all walks of life can feel at home amongst our brother (and sister) from another mother reunion. Never stop improving. Let's keep climbing together! Do hard things - be excellent to each other. Attached File Attached File |

The penalized Attached File Broken truck limping back for parts. Remember when all seems lost - each problem is merely an obstacle to be overcome. Solve the problem - don't be afraid to ask for help. If others need help, be ready to give it! Attached File Cactus is not the only danger to be cautious of, forbidden popsicles can hurt as well. Attached File Spend the time to bring up the next generation. It's a worthy endeavor and valuable pursuit. Attached File If all else fails, you need only try one more time. Then one more time. Until failure becomes success! Prepare for the unexpected. Snow in the desert?! Attached File |

Such a great event! Congrats to binny talls for night win, burnnturn for high woman, localguitarhero for high overall & fazertron for high combat! congrats to the 4 kiddos who ran the adults course and beat grown adults. The small kids course was great too- I watched multiple kids who did not even weigh anywhere near 90 lbs lug the kettlebell that some "adult" males couldn't even move. I cut my time from last year by 20 minutes & finally hit all the targets- too bad that included the no shoot/hostage. I believe my raw time was about 5 minutes slower than last year. Still kept 24th place, although this year there were 85 runners vs last years 70. I think next year I could maybe shave 5 minutes off raw, maybe cut 5 off the hostage and possibly get the tire but other than that I'm not sure I could yet the other 3 obstacles or complete a 6 pack.. Was good to see everyone and watch them mostly improve from last year & nice to meet all the newbs. Big thanks to our sponsors: geissele, esstac, arms unlimited, Leopold, cci, alg, Jolly Green Juan, Abraham & Moses, squeeboo for the amazing prizes as usual. Thanks to everyone who took care of foxy while me and binny did staff stuff. Special shout out to 82deuce for waterboarding me and giving me benadryl to make me able to see. The desert bugged my allergies last year so I brought eyedrops this year but it wasn't enough. Also thanks for the first aid kit stuff on the prize table- I picked up a tq so I can practice. Hope to see yall next year! |

Great event! I held onto a top ten run until the last day. Just going to have to get better... Thanks again to all the sponsors; Arms Unlimited, ALG, CCI, Speer, Esstac, Geissele, Leopold and any I forgot, the prize table continues to amaze me! Great time with awesome people, who are willing to send out search parties for you if you get lost on the last turn into Cola camp. Next year is one day closer, hope I will be ready by then! |

I'd like to start with a big thanks to @JohnStoner, Geissele, Arms Unlimited, Esstac, CCI Mike and everyone else that helped made this happen. Especially @HDLS for running the kitchen and @bajagringo for the shower! I would highly recommend that everyone travel to a distant cola at least once. Over 1600 miles of driving to get there, but it was totally worth it! A very surreal experiance hanging out with colabros I'd never met before. A few thoughts in no particular order: That death helix is a real grip killer. If you think you're doing enough cardio, your wrong. The targets are right in front of you. Joshua trees are pointy. Take every advantage you can. Don't stand downhill from the tires. It's not a cult. (Here, drink this) 10/10 would recommend. Attached File Attached File |

Thanks all for a great event, especially the staff and sponsors! It’s really cool to me to see the people behind the sponsorships, namely our beloved CCI rep with his legendary mustache, the Esstac crew, and Arms Unlimited! I’m probably missing a few I haven’t got the pleasure of chatting with yet given this is only my second Cola event. Thanks again for all your generosity of time and merch! I was glad to have the opportunity to cook for y’all and look forward to doing it again! So glad everyone enjoyed the chicken pot pie and I appreciate all the compliments. After multiple requests for the recipe, here it is folks! |

Doc Josh’s Chicken Pot Pie: Ingredients: 4.5 lbs chicken thighs 1 clove Garlic 1 chopped yellow onion 1 lbs Carrots 1 lbs Frozen Peas 1 lbs Potatoes 1 quart Chicken stock 1 ea croissant rolls and pie crust 1 can Evaporated milk 1/3rd can corn starch Sage Thyme Butter Old Bay seasoning -Using a large cutting board, a few bowls for chopped ingredients, your choice of charcoal briquettes at full temperature, and a 12” deep Dutch oven: -season 4-4.5 lbs of chicken thighs with Old Bay seasoning -cook the chicken in the Dutch oven with a generous amount of briquettes underneath, and a light coating of oil or butter on the bottom in order to lock in the flavor of the seasoning and make the chicken easier to dice. Complete cooking is not entirely necessary as they it will be added to the pie later. This will need to be done in batches if using only the one oven. -remove the chicken and dice into bite size pieces at your convenience. |
|
-At your convenience, dice 1lb golden potatoes, 1lb carrots, chop 1 yellow onion, and a few cloves of garlic. -If there is juices left in the pot, remove them temporarily to add with the other liquid ingredients later, or discard. The choice is yours. -In an undisclosed amount of butter, sauté 1 chopped yellow onion and a few cloves of chopped garlic. This will serve to deglaze the oven if anything sticked while cooking the chicken. For an easy clean, use a utensil to aid the deglazing process if needed. Cool till the onions are clear. -Add 1 quart chicken stock, 1 can of condensed milk, 1 lb of frozen peas (preferably defrosted), and all the aforementioned ingredients. -Optional- at this point everything will take a while to come up to heat. If you are comfortable with that, use the recommended temperature control. If you need that to happen sooner than later, put the oven on top of the hot coals of a fire. Remove it once the ingredients have come to a boil. (If anyone has feedback on this being a big no-no please weigh in). -Temperature control: aim for 400*F through the cooking process. Depending on temperature, wind and altitude, use 8-10 briquettes on bottom and 16-18 on top. I use Kingsford briquettes for reference. -once the potatoes have become or about to be soft, add thyme and sage to your preference. Slowly add corn starch as well to thicken the fill to your desired texture. -prepare a crust consisting of a can of croissant rolls and a pie crust. Layer the croissant pieces on the pie crust. -with the pie crust up and the croissant down, stir all the ingredients in the oven and carefully lay the crust on top of them. Cut the pretty vent holes you see in Disney movies and replace the lid of the oven. Bake until the crust is golden. Enjoy! See y’all at West 12! |
