wtf? I haven't had one since i was like 6 or 7 years old and all of a sudden I get two in a month? |
Stress. I use Abreeva to help get rid of them. You can go to the doc and get the really expensive antiviral Rx stuff but it doesn't work any faster. If you've had chicken pox anytime, it will also be possible to get another variant of this herpes called herpes zoster or shingles. I think they have a vaccine for that now. John |

Same thing here. I went years without a cold sore. Then right after a really bad cold, I got a mild one last month. Usually, in my case, exposure to a lot of sunlight triggered the outbreak. Getting one after the cold was something new. In any event, they are more of a nuisance than anything else when they appear. And emabarrasing too. They are hard to hide right there on your lip for everyone to see. Get some zovirax as soon as you can. It will help. |

According to WebMD: "Although most people have been exposed to HSV, only about 20% to 40% develop recurring cold sores. After a person becomes infected, the virus remains inactive in the body until it is triggered by something such as sunlight exposure or stress. When active, the virus results in a cold sore outbreak." A lot of others may be harboring the virus and not know it. It is just sitting dormant.......Just waiting to reveal itself. |
