Talking with my friend who's got the issue got me worried. What causes it and how can I prevent it? Am I at risk since I run and ruck a lot? What are the symptoms? Google turned up some textbook answers, I'd rather hear about experiences. |

What were the circumstances that made them collapse? The stronger your arches are, as with anything else, the less you'll ever have to worry. I would say that arches are best strengthened by activities like running or weight lifting where you're not providing yourself a ton of arch support, giving them something to rest against. |

Well let me start, I have no idea what the condition is and I don't think I have it. But my running buddy was telling me about his collapsed arches and he said one of the causes are "overuse". Well considering how much I run, hike and ruck, I'm not sure what's considered "overuse". Oddly Google didn't turn up as much info as I hoped. So what exactly is it? How do you know if you have it? |
| My wife was telling me about a series of exercises involving rolling your arches over a tennis ball, squeezing the ball with your toes, etc that dancers use to strengthen their arches. She can pull my skin apart with her damn feet too, so I think she's on to something. |
