| Turned 50 last month, got the full checkup and headed out in about 5 minutes to get my first colonoscopy. This isn't going to be fun... |

Funny! Yea, that is what I heard. My wife knows all of my secrets, but I wouldn't want her watching that procedure anyway. Hope I don't embarrass the nurse. Maybe I can force myself to say something they will remember. I work for the CIA and erased Obama's immigration papers... I work for the CIA and erased Obama's immigration papers... i was in GI surgical sales - you won't feel a thing and the drugs they give you make sure your wife isn't in the room - it's like a truth serum |

I'm 38...I need to start doing those. My dad had his colon out last year. His dad had part of his out. His sister had hers out as a teenager. His other sister had part of her's out last year. Clearly runs in the family ![]() My cousin had colon cancer at 35. They said it looked like he'd had it several years. If if runs in your family you should have done ASAP. |
|
Watch this first..
I sent this Billy Connolly video to my father before he had his last one. His only comment to me afterward was "Wait until it's your turn, kiddo.." I'm 43 so it's not long now. |

Quoted: The post procedure farting is entertaining. Yes, as are the words that come out of your mouth while you are waking up. I guess I woke up during the procedure, and they had to give me the max dose to knock me out again. The wife said I was hitting on the blonde nurse that was taking care of me post procedure. She also got video of me calling my Dad asking if I could borrow 250K, among other funny crap. It was quite mean of her to video me, but then again I was hitting on that nurse. She said my farts were so strong they were moving the curtains. I was 29 or 30 when I had that done, IIRC.

I'm turning 51 this month and the doc keeps reminding me I need to schedule that. Yeah one of these days when I'm not working 80 hours a week I guess. Thanks for the reminder. I'm a bit older. Put mine off for years until the wife made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I saw no need for one at all, never had any gut issues. Afterwards the Doc introduced me to a new thing "Precancerous polyp". I still remember him saying "In another four years we would be having an all together different conversation if you hadn't come in today." Doc says I am the poster boy for colorectal cancer (no symptoms), says he gets most of his patients the same way I came, via the wife. I'm on the five year plan now. |

|
When they wheeled me into the examination room they turned down the lights and I told the male nurse "If you throw on some Barry White, you're buying dinner" Tried to stay awake through the procedure and remember watching the screen as the camera went up my arse, went out shortly after that...

get it done
it's easy this way you at least know if your growing anything they don't just check for polyps but also look for other abnormalities that you might need to know about otherwise,.....it's a gamble I know a guy who went and got checked and they found cancer that hadn't broken through the wall of his colon he went and got the surgery done a few days later which turned out to be somewhat minor the surgeon later told him that had he waited another few weeks to get checked the cancer would of broken through the wall of his colon and traveled all around his body and he would of been in serious trouble |

For gods sake make sure they KNOCK you out. The only way that procedure is worse, is being awake for it. I know interesting topic What I learned is this: If you live on the East Coast the medical community uses Propofol and basically puts you to sleep during the procedure (something they are now being criticized for...over usage of etc.. ) ( my experience) However, if you live in other areas of the country, you might not be put to sleep during the procedure |

Got my first one after Mom was taken by colon cancer as her last wishes for all us kids and they found a polyp during mine as well. I get to talk to the doc about my 5 year repeat a little later this month. I'm not looking forward to it, but between Mom having it and finding a polyp, I'm going to be on the 5 year plan forever. What bothers me is that Mom came down with colon cancer 4 years after her last scope session. Makes me a little uncomfortable due to that. |

It ain't the actual procedure because you don't remember that.
It's the preparation that is jus' turrble. |

Get I taken care of! Dad died in 99 from Colon cancer. I've been on the 5 yr. plan ever since I'm 48 now.
Have it done its worth it for peace of mind! OH and enjoy the "night of a thousand waterfalls" for prep! Whoever named that stuff "Go Lightly" is a sick twisted bastard! Must have been an ARF comer! |
