Colt hasn't had a sear block in over ten years.  A Colt lower is just as standard as any other lower.  What purpose does a selector stop serve? KAC doesn't have 'em either.

Wait

I own a 6920 from around 2009.  Came with detach carry handle. Looks fantastic. It's been perfect t.

Don't know about new ones. But I would get the Colt on sale. You might see 799 this weekend.

I paid a thousand back then when demand was up. But at Christmas LGS threw in 4 boxes of ammo and 2 range passes.

Wait a few days

$799 shipped from PSA puts you people who don't have to pay tax at $820 or so for a brand new 6920. This is the clear option.

OP, you should read through this thread before buying.

This is an excellent read, probably one of the best threads ever on AR15.com.  It has excellent info on some weapons, particularly Colts and PSA.

Some snipptes:

p. 44 Here is a Colt M4 that lasted exactly 364 days on the line. This is from a group of Colt's that the RSO's always go to first because of the ease of operation and the "cool" Magpul tan furniture for the customers. These started life as semi-auto M4's with 16" barrels. We estimated that a very conservative round count for this rifle to be at approximately 150,000 rounds.

Here some of the repairs that have been performed on this rifle during it service life.
- four hammer pins
- hammer spring
- ejector spring
- two bolts
- gas rings
- gas tube

The barrel was still shooting straight enough to put holes through the center of the target and group good enough for tourists. There were no signs of "keyholing", no other signs of stress cracks in the upper or lower receiver assemblies.

We don't know at what point the barrel separated from the upper receiver because the customer posed with the gun and then handed it back to the RSO in two pieces. The customer had just finished firing the weapon, handed it to the RSO, who then cleared it and gave it back to the customer for cleaning.

In my opinion, the Colt M4's have worked the best they could considering the environment they have to function in.

----------

I wouldn't say one in particular is better than than the other but the models that I see on the floor EVERYDAY are the Colt's. The DD's and PSA's are dressed in standard black furniture and the Colt's received Magpul tan and olive drab. People tend to flock to those when we are getting weapons ready so the RSO's go with them. I guess it's what you see in the movies and video games so people want them in particular, which means heavier use.

-----------

We used the Palmetto BCG's and they are as reliable as the others we use. I will say though, the Colt BCG's have held up the best so far.

----------------

The Colt bolts were WELL past the 60,000 round count before suffering a sheared lug. As for LaRue's, we don't have any of them on the line. Also, we still have plenty of other Colt's we put on the line that the bolts are still fine and headspace is within spec'.

The saint appears to be a nice rifle, but sorry new ground broken or a leap ahead in quality. Nobody here will ever convince me that middies are any better than a properly spec'd carbine system.

Its not, but if we are honest it's improvements are at the margin and thus really shouldn't be a make or break it component. There are more important considerations.

Admittedly the improvement over the carbine-length system isn't huge... but it is an improvement. I can't really think of any other thing to change on the 6920 design that would improve performance as much AND would add as little cost (as in, practically nothing) to the rifle.

So, other than Colt sucks and the receiver is not full auto ready in the ARs, why does Colt suck?  In the thread I linked to in AR Discussions, that is absolutely not the case at all, quite the opposite.

I am not a fanboi, but they work and are a known quantity. I have Larue and ones I have built, FYI.

If you do not like their customer service or the finish, okay.  Even on finish for some, it is for shooting, not prancing around with.  Give reasons.

If you want a safe queen buy Daniel Defense next time. I bought one and later found some scratches on the receiver that had been anodized over. It looked ugly so I called DD and they sent me a return label for the entire rifle and sent it back to me with a new receiver.

Colt blowing up their bubble by making a midlength is probably why they are unhappy.

I'm still waiting for the midlength haters to denounce the KAC SR-15E3. If midlength is bad, the E3 length must be horrible. Right?

As far as the OP's question, yes Colt makes good bolts. Buy a Saint anyway.
