It's going to be a full house with participants. I can put you on stand by but you will have to run if a slot opens up.

I spent good coin on a holster and a red dot sight for my Poly 80 Glock 19 clone for this event.  I figured that was a good choice.

This evening some guy in GD posts about a new sight for his Python. I replied to his post, and that made the gears upstairs turn for me.

Dad carried a Python—that he bought—as his service weapon when he worked for the Dallas PD.  Do I buy a holster and speed loaders for the Python to use instead of the Poly 80?   I realize it will likely hurt my time, but I’m more interested in a safe run;  at 56 I’m lucky if I don’t place last.

What say the Rockdale crew?  Python or Poly?

Your gay for not using the python at this event and gay for this being the thing that convinced you to get a decent holster and a (likely just as gud shitty Chinese) red dot sight

Make your dad proud with the python or forever be a gay old man with a disappointed dad.

A python with a good single action pull would be more competitive than you might think. It's only gay if he shoot .38 special.

Speed loader=magazine

Limited to 2 mags max

12 rounds for pistol, not impossible.

And damn, you are 56? I thought you were closer to my age. I gotta quit looking so old.

I cleared the range at CWTX2 with a single stack 1911 and two 8 rd mags. Its what I had at the time.

It was at night.

Use your G19 if the Python is going to be an excuse for not clearing steel.

Ahh. So I take it from that comment that the course of fire is unknown and that one needs to roll with what one brings.

To be clear, with the penalties I know I’m going to incur I’m going to be low on the totem pole.  I’m fine with that.  I’d like to have my equipment at least reasonable for the task at hand—that’s all.

How long do I have to ameliorate the beer gut?  You know, because my equipment is what’s holding me back.

If you know your holds you can even nail the 700 at Keystone with irons.

The majority of people shoot an AR with some type of magnified optic, but red dots and iron sights have been used.  Mini 14s and AKs, M1919s, Barrett .50 cal, Draco, grenade launchers, hand grenades, revolvers and probably a few other things have been tried, some with better results than others.

I'd recommend an AR with an LPVO or an ACOG or equivalent and a 9mm pistol with a red dot.

Using rifle grenades was pretty satisfactory for me, lol. Another thing to try. Thinking about it for Heartland.

Yes

Plenty of room for tents, places to hang hammocks or just sleep in your vehicle.

Camping area to the right of the fence. Which we will need everyone to stay back from. Can't get in the way of the runners.
