Lee loaders are pretty cool. I have one for 45-70. Got a whole setup so i can cast, and load for 45-70 over a campfire in the woods this summer. Gonna make camping with the family more fun. just use different cast iron pots to cast and cook in k? Adds flavor!

No spice kit is complete without the essentials salt, pepper, thyme, garlic, lead, dill

This is what I started with and still have. Put together a reloading kit using a midsized toolbox from walmart,
Had the hand press, primed cases, dies I was going to use, powder, small battery powered scale and powder drop that I could mount to the box. Works great for going to the range and working up loads on the fly. But that is all it's good for. Would not recommend going this route if you are planing on using it as your main press unless you have no room for even a single stage. (AKA a studio apt)

The Woodchuck Den has a high quality wood stand that makes any single stage press portable.
I use mine with a rockchucker and it is easy to take to the range to develop loads, or load anywhere in the house you have space and don't want to drill holes to mount the press |
Sinclair (Brownells) makes a portable wooden press stand too. Supposedly they are just a hair stronger than the stands sold by Woodchuck Den, but, the ones from Woodchuck are very good too. Only issue with the model from Sinclair is they have not been in stock since last fall, but they are supposedly going to be shipping more soon. I have two on back-order.

I enjoy woodworking. Years ago I was thinking about this as well. I decided just to get a full sized single stage. Then times changed and I pretty much never even opened the box from midway. A few months ago I got the bug again. Still have the space limits that keep me from using my progressive press all the time. So I made a box for the press. I can store the press in the box or mount it on the box. The box can be c clamped to whatever is handy, or clamped in my workmate. It is about as portable as I care to go. Lee also has a new table in their catalog, that said it is not nearly as small as some of the bench-top stands. |
