I just want to get a few HPT/MPI bolts as spares. I can buy a complete BCG for $80 while just the bolt itself costs the same or more? What am I missing? |

That they are $55 not $80? https://aimsurplus.com/products/aim-ar-m16-223-5-56-nitride-9310-mpi-bolt-carrier-group-1?c=HPAIMBCG5495 |

With the price of metal so high it would be nice to be able to buy bolt assemblies sans carrier for a bit cheaper. Of course it does take a lot more machining to make bolt. I'm sure it's more than a carrier and C158 costs more. |

So . . . just buy the complete BCG for a decent price and then you have an extra carrier, too. Not really seeing the issue here for the amount of $$$ involved. Sometimes you'll pay more than you want for part of a product group than the whole thing. That's not exclusive to firearms. |

I just have way too many spare carriers sitting around that I’ll never use. I just like having a spare bolt, firing pin, cam pin, set of gas rings, and a couple of firing pin retaining pins in the grip of my rifles. |
