I'm a programmer.  I'm not a designer.  I recognize my weakness and the need to improve.  I recognize also that learning CSS will not make me a designer, but I need the chops to be able to produce my designs while I improve.  So I need a CSS book that is not entirely reference (a la O'Reilly) but rather a CSS book for a designer wannabe.

Thanks for any constructive input.

Ah, thanks.  It seems to be highly regarded...I'll check it out.

Did you think to use the Internet? I don't know about books but I could recommend a couple of web sites that have some good info about CSS.

I'd start here.
www.cssbasics.com/

Also an excellent site. I regularly use their reference guide.
www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp

Quirksmode is also handy.
