Can any of the computer gurus out there verify if these three components will play nicely? I believe they will, but I want to validate before purchasing.
I'm upgrading my server hardware and just want to do it right the first time. Yes, these parts are overkill, but I'd like to do it once and be good for another 5-7 years. My current parts are at least 10 years old. It's an Athlon Thunderbird 1.1ghz with 1gb of PC100 ram...
Here's the new parts I'm considering getting: Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131398 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103809 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148262 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231276 Many thanks in advance for any feedback that can be provided. (edited to change the RAM weblink) |

The specs all match, but that doesn't guarantee they will all play nice together. The reviews on that mobo look good, and that's the main player in getting things to work well together. If you buy a quality mobo, the rest usually falls in line. Usually a little research on the mobo will turn up any inconsistencies. |

I just went to this in December, replacing my Athlon 2400+ machine from 2002 or 2003. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115202 An Asus P6T motherboard, 6 gig of ram and Win 7 64 bit and a ATI Radeion HD 4800 video card. They play nicely and do so quickly. |

+1 on getting better ram otherwise you look gtg. Eta. What do you have for a power supply might want to look at upgrading that as well. Thermaltake 500W. Replaced it a few years back when I put the 4th and 5th HDDs in the system. How does this look for RAM? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145260&cm_re=corsair_xms3_4gb_(2_x_2gb)_240-pin_ddr3_sdram_ddr3-_-20-145-260-_-Product |

Looks like I'll step down to 1333mhz then. I want to keep it simple. :) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145251 |

Is that a good brand? I've never heard of it before. Yes, good brand great customer service I used their 1600mhz tri channel kit for my i7 rig. Cool. It's added to my cart. Looks like this comes to $366 w/ free 3-day shipping. Oh, and the current CPU finally ate $&*@ last night. My server is completely down until I get these parts and do the replacement work. |
