AR15.COM

Cruising the web today and started having issues connecting to sites. I am using Firefox 3.5.7 on a windows 64 bit XP system.

For instance, connecting to Foxnews.com has a never ending page load and is not isolated to just foxnews.

The only site that has worked consistently is AR15.com.

Only things I could think of to do to resolve the issue is clearing the cache and rebooting.

Any other ideas?

ETA: The really odd thing is facebook will not load from my bookmark location but if I click on a link from an external application (mail) it loads just fine.

Sounds like you need to flush your DNS.

Without getting technical, have you reset the PC lately?

Reboot? Yes. Reset?

get to a command prompt and enter:

ipconfig /flushdns

press enter...

Hedonist, thanks for the help.

The DNS reset did not work unfortunately.

I attempted it twice with a system reboot once and a full power down for a few minutes.

No routers to reset. I am on a USB data connection.

I just dont understand why AR15.com loads perfectly normal and most anything else I try does not.

Any further ideas?

USB data connection? Can you elaborate a bit on that?

I would link you to it but I cant get that site to load.

It is an Alltel EV-DO Huawei mobile device. Plugs into a USB port.

Running Avast.

I disabled it and still...

Foxnews.com

facebook.com

those seem to be the only two with issues now.

I have also tried the sites in IE with the same results.

Does anyone think this may not actually be my computer or settings but maybe my provider?

bring up a command prompt and run

tracert www.foxnews.com

and then

tracert www.facebook.com

post the results.

This has happened to many of us in the past, and usually a reset of equipment, a repair of internet connection, or a power on/off fixes it.

Something may have infected your system somehow, or corruption of your TCPIP configuration may have occurred.

At least you have ARFCOM.

I cant copy out of the 'run' window, and cannot upload any screen shots.

Pings to google, ar15.com, facebook, and foxnews all get similar results.

I am 99% certain it is my ISP giving me issues as a few friends in the area with the same ISP cant access the same sites.

Thank you all for the help. Learned a little more about figuring out what is going on.
