| I have the big 19" tube monitor. It measures 18" diagonally. I want to get an LCD monitor,so, How wide is a 17" Lcd monitor(17")? Is it about the same as a the tube 19"? |
Yes, A 17" LCD should have about the same viewable area as a 19" CRT. NewEgg has some great deals on 19" LCDs. |
Most of todays 19" CRTs have a 18" viewing area, mine does. A 17" LCD has a 17" viewing area. What resloution do you run the 19" at? |
+1 for NewEgg.. IMHO Acer has the best deals. I picked up a 19" with DVI and SVGA, speakers even though they are cheap, 700:1 ration 8ms refresh for 279 shipped FedX !! You cant beat that one. I have had good luck with Acer and they are not so proud of their LCDs they want to rip you off like other manuf.. |

I still don't quite like how LCD monitors generally look. Such as, , , -for $100 you can get a perfectly-acceptable 17-inch CRT monitor--but to get an LCD of thje same screen size that looks as nice, I'd have to spend $300-$400 at least. The cheaper LCD's just don't look right to me, it's the ghosting or something, the $200 LCD's look like crap and the $500 LCD's look perfect. So as far as I'm concerned, LCD's still cost way more than CRT's. I think part of it is the critical viewing angles that LCD's have. If you have a laptop and adjust the angle of the screen to different places, you see that the screen looks different top-to-bottom... The plasma TVs/monitors all look normal, but they cost way more than LCD's. ~ |
