Builing a new system for mainly Multimedia and some games.  Do you lose anything with wireless?  Are there lags, etc?  I was ready to pull the trigger on a set-up and the box scared me away talking of the mouse with "laser" technology indicating that previous wireless were inferior.  Should I just stay wired?

New sys:
Asus A8N-SLI
AMD 4400 Dual
GeoForce 7900 GT KO
1MB RAM
320mb SATA HD

My first build.  It been fun so far....Thanks for any advice.

My experience? Stay wired. Tried the wireless route and it's not worth it.

I do wireless.  The keyboard and mouse both work great, but the mouse eats batteries pretty quick.

+1 for gaming, stay wired.

For anything else, wireless is ok. Batteries have the tendency to go dead RIGHT when you need to make a quick move in a game. How frustrating it is when that happens and you realize right then that if you only spent half as much on a wired setup, it would not have happened.

If that sounds like the voice of experience, it is. I have a wired setup on the computer I play games on, and a wireless setup on the one I use for everyday home stuff like bills, surfing the net, music, etc.

I had the same problem, but I switched to the new Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 2.0.  It's a little pricier, but the batteries really last forever.    I use the computer a lot and I only change them every 6-8 months.  They promoted it as a low battery user and they were surely right.  I love 5 button mouses too.

Do they have a bluetooth version?  I am using a Mac with bluetooth.

Almost my exact system...

IMO the wireless stuff has too much latency.

My frag rate went back up going back to my wired optical mouse.  Keyboard is not that big of a deal one way or another.

I found that wireless is okay if you own stock in a couple of battery companies. Went back to wired because the mouse ate batteries.

Beats me.  Call and ask.

My wireless mouse doesn't always pick up fast movements, so not the best for gaming imho.

I use this intellimouse for gaming with no problems.  I can program the sensetivity to where I like it, also.

The 5 programable buttons are great.

I am wireless with my mouse/keyboard and to my router.  I have no problems gaming at all.

I use a rather inexpensive Logitech wireless and it works great.

No latency - at least none that I can tell, but I don't do gaming.

I've had mine for about a half a year now and I use it every day and I'm still on my first set of batteries.

I'm happy with it.
