When I use my Earthlink account rather than my local ISP I can't send anything using my AR15.com email from within Outlook Express. I get this error. The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.ar15.com (1)', Server: 'xxx.xx.xx.xxx', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E What setting do I need to change? Thanks |
| At one time I had them set to mail.ar15.com but, changed them to the actual numbers after RBAD changed something. I switched it back to the mail.ar15.com it now won't pick up incoming either...and I lost the numbers to the mail server...Guess I need to get ahold of RBAD. |

Unable to logon to the server using Secure Password Authentication. Account: 'mail.ar15.com', Server: 'mail.ar15.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR authentication exchange failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18 getting this now...[:(] |
| lol some help you guys are [:)] ELN introduced a rather harsh anti-spam policy years ago, while on their network (dial up, DSL) you CANNOT use an outside SMTP server. Most SMTP servers will not allow relaying from external networks anyway, if they do they usually have some kind of mechanism to make sure you're authorized to, via SMTP authentication or the POP3 first, then SMTP relaying rule. |

Earthlink does have port 25 closed. You can only send email through earthlink 'send mail server', you cannot send from another domain using your earthlink connection. that was as clear as mud. you cannot send mail while connected through earthlink to any other mail server besides earthlinks. Someone help me... I know what you are trying to do and you cannot do it. I know there's a better explaination out there somewhere. I'll look. edited to add, Duff has a much better explaination! I missed it! 1GR.... while connected via ELN, your outgoing mail (SMTP)server name MUST be Earthlinks(something like 'mail.earthlink.net') , you should be able to change your pop to whatever you want however. |
