My wife makes period correct costumes.

She needs a computer program that will allow her to take still images off of a DVD.......like from a movie.

I have no clue what to look for.

If your OS is Windows XP you should have a program called Windows Moviemaker.

She can import part of the movie and then pick out single images to save.

What DVD software do you use?  Many have screen captures built in to them.

if you are going to do it that way you are going to have to remove the CSS encryption off the disc. (Using DVD-decryptor/DVDshrink/whatever). It would be MUCH easy to just use a built in screen capture on your dvd software. Or press Alt+Printscreen and post into MS_Paint like mentioned above.

Topaz Moment 3.2

Edited to add: This is what you are looking for, it will capture and enhance stills taken directly from a playing DVD.

You DO NOT NEED "PE" which costs several times what Topaz Moment costs alone. The only advantage of the Professional Edition over the regular edition is that Pro will allow you to batch capture, and you probably don't need that.

I think they allow a 30 day trial before requiring payment.
