The system is on Windows XP,
I'm using Firefox for a browser.

My shockwave crashes about once every hour or so. I've gone into the thing about fixing it , or the proper steps etc, but not sure I understand exactly.

Is there any alternative to it if I were to disable it and install something better? Or, how can I fix it?

I'm not real literate with computers, so you might have to go r-e-a-l-l-y s-l-o-o-o-o-w with me.

Also, not sure if related, but my Adobe says not up to date on my Avast , but when I go to update, it won't, and it wants me to install the newest version, but I don't see anything for XP.

Thanks as always guys.

Is your Shockwave updated?
12.0.3r133 is what I show, from here:

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/

That's where I'd start first.

You might have to completely uninstall it from Firefox AND IE to get a good reinstall.

As for replacing it, I think that's what adobe is pushing, to replace Flash. But I could be wrong.

Thanks.

Oh, I have all the Adobe stuff, and one of the Adobe things, can't remember, won't update. Maybe it's their version, and it's conflicting. I'll check on that.

Again, thanks.

I've had Flash Player fail to update. Ended up having to uninstall it, and reinstall it. After 3 different updates.
The next update, it worked fine.

You can find the FTP site, on the web. There, you can download the current versions of the software, not just the update. Sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do!

Adobe is starting to get like Nuance - 7 different products - none of which cooperate with each other! /grrr/

I downloaded it and installed it. It worked went fine on downloading etc.

I got the crap scared out of me. My power went off for a minute, and I thought the computer was screwed.

When the PC turned back on, it went to windows like normal, but then it went to some other blue screen saying it was looking for files, and disks and stuff. It went through that, and uninstalled something, and installed something, and then went to the normal screen.

Once there, it asked me to update Shockwave, which I just did, and it went fine. So far so good. Worried about the computer though. Not sure what that means , but last time I had one do it the computer died a month later.

I'm thinking since I didn't restart, or maybe finish the install and update before the power went out that it was part of that process or something.
