I've got this old motherboard:

Asrock z77 extreme 4

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77%20Extreme4/

Need to replace video card on it, thinking about getting this:

EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC GAMING, 04G-P4-6253-KR, 4GB GDDR5, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16814487291

Thats about what I want to pay for one, so is it a good choice, bad choice, ok choice, etc? I'll probably upgrade the rest of the system in a while. Thanks.

What are you going to use it for? That card will be great if you dont have onboard video and you just want to watch 1080p videos... gaming, not so much.

This is a lot more powerful for just a few bucks more. Use the code SAVE15 for another 15% off. Gets it down to around 160
GTX 1060 3GB

The AMD cards (470/570) are also very competitive in this price range.

Really depends on what your purpose is (gaming, rendering, casual use, etc).

Should be fine for most medium settings games , but as above i would just get the 1060 .  My 1060 6 gig will do 60 fps on ultra in arma 3 , pretty good. just depends what you are going to do , the 1050 may be just fine .

Funny, the comments on the slickdeals thread on that card lead me to the card I posted.

The posters there claim the card I listed has better performance. Dont know if they're right or not.

I think it would be a fine choice.  As I type this I am using a (kinda long in the tooth) Asus z77 Sabertooth MB with an i7-3770k processor and an nvidia gtx 550 Ti that seems to handle about any game I've thrown at it well enough if that is your thing. I don't play a lot of games but it hasn't disappointed me when I do.  Does fine with photoshop too. What is your intended purpose?

Oh crap, I is tarded. I read the comment the wrong way, they were saying the card listed has twice the performance. My bad. My brains still a bit addled from alcohol, so I'll use that as an excuse

Someone claimed a 1050ti has better performance than 1060?

That person is retarded and you shouldn't take their advice.

Games and general use. I'll likely be getting the 1060.

When I upgraded my GPU I went with the EVGA GTX-1060 6G SSC GPU, it works great!
It replaced an OEM Nvidia GT630.

Before and after benchmark (that's supposed to be GT-630, not GT-635):
