I just bought a set of Z-2300 PC speakers and the bass is loud as hell.

Any programs to tone it down a bit?

I've only used stereo so far, but I think each channel would have a separate slider.

Sub is turned down all the way.... thanks

Just looking for a 3rd party program that tones it down even more.  I used to have one, but I forgot what it was called

What program are you using to play music? Winamp? Itunes? Both of those have an equalizer in them.

I dunno any separate equalizer programs for the system output.

Usually, if the soundcard has the capability to equalize at all, the controls for that are in the normal system sound controls.

other things coming from the system don't have equalization, such as the "ding" when there is an error, or that annoying startup music, which does have some bass to it. windows needs an EQ plugin and better volume controls. not aware of anything like that, and I've looked before.

There should be settings on your computer that allow you to turn down the bass output, you just need to find them.

if anything, open the Master Volume control (double click the speaker icon in systray) click on options, properties, check playback, then check all boxes, you will get slider controls for all outputs. do a CTRL-S to make it not so fucking huge. Subwoofer is one of them, if connected seperately to your sound card it might turn that down. mine isn't and it doesn't, just have to try it and see.

note, that's not bass equalization, just volume to the subwoofer.

Figure out what sounds card you have then look in it's directory for a program containing an equalizer.
