Glock 21?  Are you comfortable shooting a .45?

I swear none of you have ever even met a woman that's 5'8 and 120-130lbs.

Where the fuck is a woman going to conceal a G21?

tie between shield and Lc9S...shield has better ergos, LC9s has a better trigger so it may be slightly more accurate but lc9s grip doesn't feel so great.

Why would you damn MrSmiley's wife with such an overweight, oversized, limited capacity, finicky and expensive pistol?

Because if I had a wife I would get her the very best

If you say so.

Seems to work fine for me. Never goes down in classes. Ive seen Glocks, PPQs, HKs go down. Also seen 1911s go down. But mine never do

I always seem to lead the pack in the classes with this 100 year old pistol vs others with "modern" pistols, but right on

You can still get to the grocery store with a Ford Model T.

Doesn't mean that it's suddenly a superior choice to alternatives that have come about since.

Go to range that rents guns, find the one that you like best then get to the real challenge...

Finding the holster you like the best.

BUT, try a M&P Compact (non-mag-safety version for CC) as well before purchasing any of the above.

She would only be able to conceal this if she wore overalls.

Baggy ones.

Oh really?

You can also run the Compact without the pinky extension to reduce grip length, and the addition of swap-able backstraps is a very nice feature.

If that's a serious question a sweater of that size color and print will hide a pretty good size gun. I think people are getting hung up on it being 100% super spy unspottable concealed and a good 70% concealed which the public at large will never ever notice.

Anyway I'd say the most important thing is have her try to manipulate all the guns. My gf couldn't lock back the slide on the Shield. Only ones that got her stamp were LC9s and P238/9.

Second thing is OWB with a bit of a cover garment is 100x more comfortable for women than IWB, because their angles and curves make a gun tilt and dig.

It can be done depending on the wardrobe. A slightly looser blouse can easily cover a G43 size gun IWB or even OWB if worn correctly. Many women just aren't willing to make the wardrobe adjustments (like wearing a belt). Yoga pants and a tank top aren't going to conceal much (God bless them though).

While a 1911 is the last gun I would recommend for someone new to carrying a weapon, you are simply wrong about this.

Compared to a 1911, there are no striker fired options with the ability to have a trigger as light and sharp with a super-short reset. Even among hammer fired guns, the list of guns with comparable triggers is quite short (P210, SIG X, CZs with a shitload of work).

Since I own both a PM9 and an LC9S these would be my choice.
The PM9 weighs 20 ounces fully loaded and the Ruger weighs a tad more than an ounce but carries an extra round.
Pm9 has no safety but the trigger is long but reasonably crisp.
The LC9s has a safety and a fair trigger too.
The LC9s is a bit lower priced than the PM9 but the also make the CM9 which is nice.
Fwiw I paid $655 for my night site equipped PM9 in 2010.
I paid $292 (nib) on a GunBroker bid for the Ruger.
Both are very accurate and reliable.

G42, I think its better than the G43 for the niche it follows into.

If you were a bit bigger I would suggest a CZ75 Compact PCR

While the g43 is new and the aftermarket is just now starting to catch up with things....I am quite happy with mine.

And being a Glock I expect it to be one of the premier ccw pieces in current times.

It has some shortcomings, but all micro-guns do.

But like I said, I am quite happy with mine.  And it's 9mm....so.

That being said, my primary ccw gun is a g17 modded to take g19 mags.  So the g43 is more for times when I can't take the 17.

That's one of the reasons I was set on the PPS I heard the trigger is smooth and it's a reliable gun.

Yea, I never thought much about them till she'd wear a dress, or expensive nice jeans, or yoga pants and a hoodie, and carry her giant ass pistol LOL... then "Yea, ok those work well".

They also work well with pretty much any size firearm, the only real drawback is it's a fixed position, but they seem well placed for draw.

Just got my shield and think it's awesome.  The single stack 9mm trend has lots of merit IMHO.  I found this while I was looking and found it useful.  I've held a P238 before and felt it was too small to get a confident grip.  The shield hit the sweet spot for me though especially with the slightly extended 8 rounder magazine.

Whatever feels right in your hands. If the caliber needs to be reduced, do so. Carry guns are personal. Confidence over caliber.

Go to the firearms Academy of Seattle and take their Safety-Selection course.  You will shoot a  bunch of them and be taught how to do it safely.  They are in Chehalis and this course is very Inexpensive.  Marty makes no money from it but he is willing to do it as no one who has taken it has been in an accident. You will find a gun that you actually like to shoot.
If you can't then begin with a Glock 19 any generation.

PPS.  It's my second most carried hnadgun, after my 642.  And it's what my wife has for her bedside gun when I'm out of town.  She likes shooting it more than other 9mms I have and she likes the lack of a safety or any other complexity.  Just point and shoot.

Best bet is to find a place that rents out what options you're looking for, and find something you shoot well, and enjoy shooting then work around concealing that.

This right here. I voted PPS in the poll though. You like it and want it, so just get it. These guns will all function the same in situations where you'd need them. Sure you can throw a glock off a plane and still use it, but they're not the nicest guns to shoot.

All are good guns, get the one that fits your hand the best.

I had a PPS for a long time. There weren't many good single stacks around when i bought it. It was very accurate, but a little heavier than the others you listed. I sold it to get a single stack Glock.

The Glock is the easiest to clean and is the perfect balance between weight and small size.

If you get the LC9, get the Pro S.

This is the answer - which of course isn't an answer at all.  Get the one that feels best, that you can shoot best, and that you'll actually carry. Hopefully they're the same one.

Don't rule out a Sig P320 Subcompact.

I find the Ruger LC9 is the easiest to conceal on that list, save possibly the Kahr.

If you have smaller hands the Ruger fits very well.

I'm pretty happy with my M&P Compact.  Based on that I like the Shield, but the M&P Compacts aren't too much larger and have more mag capacity.  Compare them in your choices.  But neither is too tiny.

I'm a big guy and usually carry an M&P .45 with a 14 round magazine.

Recently got a LC9s pro and love it.  Picked up two nine round magazines.  The seven is inserted and the nine rounder is the reload. Love it.  Recommend it.  Worlds better than the LC9.
