Considering the book is from the same guy who did Jurassic Park it's kind of a let down. I dunno if any of you read the book if the book "Congo" was in fact better?

Corny but I liked it.

I agree. I thought the book was quite a bit better. It's been a long damn time since I read it though.

Like the majority of Chrichton's works that have been turned into movies, the book was better.

The book was better than the movie, but the book still kind of fizzled out at the end.

The book is much better.  Crichton was one hell of a writer.  Too bad Hollywood botched the majority of movies based on his novels.  (Fuck you Hollywood for the abomination known as Sphere)

The book is almost always better than the movie...

Has there ever been an instance where a movie based on a book was better than the book?

I actually liked the movie.  The gorilla was cute.

I read the book, but it was a long time ago.

When the author took on global warming, I think he signed his death warrant.

The book is excellent.  Well worth the read.

I reread it for the umpteenth time a little while back, it was interesting to see what they thought of as "cutting edge" tech back then (1980).  90% of the equipment they took on the expedition could be replaced by my cell phone today.

I've heard Stephen King said the same thing about The Mist, but I don't know if it's true since I never read the story

The book is better than the movie, much like Jurassic Park.

I think the only Michael Crichton book I really enjoyed it being a movie was Rising Sun, but even then it suffered from Wesley Snipes and his tax evading ass.
