Having issues with converting newer (.docx) Word files to PDF.

Specifically, we're losing the native bookmarks from Word; they get stripped out during conversion, and the only thing remaining is the color (blue) and underlining.

Any ideas?  The topical help within Adobe for "bookmarks" is pretty anemic.

Thanks in advance.

are you asking about intra-document links (like, from the ToC to pages within) or hotlinks (like, to the web)?

Have you tried the Office 2007 "save as PDF" option?

The former.  In MS Word and MS FrontPage lingo, they are Bookmarks (both accessed via Insert> Bookmark).  Interestingly, in the Insert Bookmark dialog box, you are given an "out" or "one last opportunity" to make the link external (e.g. a hyperlink from the document to an outside website) instead of internal (e.g. from one place in the document to another place in the [same] document).
Score.  I didn't know that existed (thank you very much, btw).

What I'm familiar with is the Adobe-based plug-in or add-in that allows one to right-click on the [Word] file in question and select "Convert to PDF".

As far as I know, it is a feature that comes with the full version (i.e. Adobe Professional), and not the Reader.  We have the full version, so I was expecting my way to work.

This would be "another tool in the box" and seems to be just what I'm looking for.

Thanks again, Ry.

you're welcome.

There were Office 2007 betas with full PDF interop - Adobe bitched and Microsoft pulled the functionality.

In Office 2007 SP2, this is built in. For now.

What I would *really* like to know is why Adobe Acrobat (Professional; I understand about Reader) won't allow you to make bookmarks from scratch.  Seems a standard-enough task.....
