Yes, which islands? Mauke, Penrhyn, Rarotonga,   Half a day per island,

I was there in 1978, they were not by any means fancy tourist resorts.  They probably have improved some.  Very laid back.  The Cook Islands are the only "nation" that the United States has an ongoing territorial dispute with.  We both claim some uninhabited atolls in the northern Cooks.  According to the "Guano" Treaty with the Brits, they are ours, New Zealand, which included the Cooks before they nominally became independent, has a different interpretation of the treaty.  But when I was in a small boat taking soundings in Avarua "Harbor" using a long pole with the Prime Minister to see if our liberty boats could use some additional landings, we just had a good laugh about it.

My cruiser showed up less than 14 days after the Government of Sir Albert Henry was deposed by the Courts.

If I had the choice of going there or Tahiti, I'ld probably go back there.
