It was interesting to observe the Attorney General coming forth to "accept full responsibility" for the atrocity at Waco. One wonders what that means. When one accepts responsibility, one accepts appropriate punishment for one's transgression. The Japanese have a long tradition of the proper means of accepting responsibility. It is conducted by means of a short, sharp knife. I have such a piece in my armory and I would be glad to part with it in a good cause, such as appropriate use by the Attorney General.

Hostiles are like mosquitos, if you scare them away, they come back with lots of friends.

There ain't many troubles a man can't fix, with $700 and a 30-06.

He was the shit when i was a pup in the 60's.

Scary to read him again, allmost like he could tell the future. I have not read anything of his in many years.

My personal favorite

The saged Col. Jeff Cooper put the whole matter in perspective:

"One bleeding-heart type asked me in a recent interview if I did not agree that 'violence begets violence.' I told him that it is my earnest endeavor to see that it does. I would like very much to ensure — and in some cases I have — that any man who offers violence to his fellow citizen begets a whole lot more in return than he can enjoy." -Jeff Cooper, "Cooper vs. Terrorism", Guns & Ammo Annual, 1975

I loved reading Coopers corner every month in the back of G&A.  That was one of the few reasons I subscribed for so many years.

Indeed. When I was just a little shit reading the back pages of G&A, I often fantasized of what it was like to meet the man. I am saddened that I never got the chance.

+1 on reading him in G&A when I only owned a single barrel .410 and rode the big yellow dog to school

On Federal Law Enforcement Officials:
"Already a couple of the faithful have sent in checks for a foundation memorial to the innocents who perished at the hands of the ninja at Waco. ... I have been criticized by referring to our federal masked men as "ninja" … Let us reflect upon the fact that a man who covers his face shows reason to be ashamed of what he is doing. A man who takes it upon himself to shed blood while concealing his identity is a revolting perversion of the warrior ethic. It has long been my conviction that a masked man with a gun is a target. I see no reason to change that view."

And now BATman McGaw proclaims that home schooling turns the home into a
school, and therefore makes that home off-limits to personally owned
firearms. I always thought that the BATmen were of a different species, and
this discovery confirms my suspicion.

That one is often attributed to Cooper, but it's not his:

I have read just about every book and article Cooper ever wrote.  Of the many, many, many quotable things he said, my favorite is, "There's always some clothpate as ne'er gets the word."  I do like that "violence begets violence" one, too.
