Officer shoots dog in self-defense

YAKIMA, Wash-- A dog is dead tonight after attacking a police officer.

Two officers were called because of a complaint of the loose dog near a home on the 400 block of South Naches Avenue. The scene turned violent when the loose dog lunged at the officer. That's when the officer shot and killed the Mastiff mix as neighbors looked on in shock.

Bonnie Bullcalf, who lives nearby, described the incident, "And I seen the dog lunge at the police officer and the police officer pushed him back with his two hands. And then the dog lunged at him again at that's when the police officer drew his gun, just started shooten."

She said the officer leaned against a nearby fence and looked shaken up after the shooting. She also added that just a few days earlier the same dog had chased her daughter into the yard.

Lol... nice.  I'm shocked it wasn't a pit bull.  You should read our local paper.  Police shooting dogs are getting to be a pretty normal occurance in Toledo.
