So, Im heading home to let my lab out around 1pm.

I see 6, yes I said 6 county workers taking out 1 stump near my home.  2 guys running equipment, 1 guy sitting in a truck, 1 guy doing i have no idea what, 1 guy supervising and another talking on the phone.

This is not a big stump, just an average tree stump.  They have been @ it all day.

Am I wrong is saying this is a huuuuuge waste of tax payers money?

I had 10 pine trees taken down @ my house.  It took 2 guys 1 day to take down the trees, stump them and haul away the shit.

sounds right. My brother works for the county here in Palm Beach. Unreal stuff they do.
For ex he works on the Road and Bridge crew , they clear brush, chop tress down, deal w/big limbs hanging over the hwy etc..

They will have a work order in one end of the county, that takes maybe 5 mins of work, then the next work order is on the opposite end of the county. They will take A1A so they drive along the beach to check out the womenz for maybe 2 hrs. Get to the job site, do 5 mins of work then break for lunch for an hour. There is 4 of them in a 2012 F350 Crew Cab that has has A/C, radio, loaded. AND then he will will whine about it.

They better enjoy it while it lasts.  They'll all be out of jobs by next year.  They finally invented a shovel that would stand up on it's own.

Calling them 'county workers' implies that they work –– better to call them county employees.

In my county they cut the workforce by 75%...
They found a shovel that could stand on its own.

If you know where to look, you can find some of their popular sleeping/reading the paper spots.

Kinda hard to compare county workers to private contractors.  Who makes more money and has the incentive to get to the next job.  I'd bet with a simple commision incentive on work done, such as mechanic work, those guys would get it done much quicker and move to the next jobsite.

Around here we have inmates do that for free.

I remember hearing some inmates bitch about having to remove a rotting horse from a ditch. Other inmates would come in with bumble-bee sting/welts from having to weed-whack sunflower patches.
