I can't believe they gave them a case with 3 M-16's in it... I can't believe they gave them an empty case... I can't believe the case was empty, and fell off of the friend's truck into a boat that sank... |

I bet the Feds were pissed they have to sort through 107 cases, in the heat, I mean that is hard labor right there, surprised they haven't filed a complaint. I'm willing to bet the search warrant has something to do with getting overtime and manpower.

Not worth the risk keeping the guns. It’s not like you could sell them, show them off or even shoot them anywhere but a really remote place that you had to drive them to and from. Essentially, they would be 12 Federal felonies waiting to fuck up the rest of your life. The longer and further they are separated from the circumstances in which they were found, the less believable the story becomes to investigators, prosecutors and a jury.
But yes, I would be tempted

I would have sealed the lid to make it look like someone before me had rigged it up not to open (like a prior thief was up to no good) then used it as a coffee table for a few years to wait and see if anyone came poking around. After that they are mine all mine for the 500 acre farm I buy after retirement.

So .gov cannot keep track of their own inventory, but think they can do it through registration for the entire civilian side? Ok.
 Sounds like a .gov sale to me. Too bad AFT is so busy approving all those form 4 transfers to Ukraine to be left out of the loop.

CONUS there's pretty strict weapons accountability. However stuff going overseas and back has many handoffs and paperwork snafus. I imagine those rifles could even been from a unit that shipped them to DRMO, and the entire lot was written off as destroyed. However they forgot to empty one case.....
