I'm going to place some items for sell on Craigslist and I often times see other listings which don't list their phone numbers in the normal numerical format. Numbers are intentionally misspelled, for instance "for" = 4, etc. Is doing this worth the effort? Have any of you listed your phone number and had problems as a result?

I think there are some spybots or webcrawlers or some such wizardry that scan for numbers. Either for scammers or telemarketers, I'm not sure.
Either way, if you have a smart phone, do yourself a favor and get a free "google voice" number. Never use your personal number on CL and sign up for another email with only your first name as well. |

Never heard of google voice, it looks cool, I'll check that out. Thanks! |

Plus if you ever change phones, you can just download the apps and use the same number. Plus I live in a pretty rural area with no cell service but access to wifi. So I can make phone calls over the internet. |
