I have noticed that the floor is creaking a lot more in a bedroom upstairs.  Our house is 10 years old and its beyond the settling noises you hear now and then.  I am thinking of replacing the upstairs carpet with tile and was wondering if simply screwing or nailing the subfloor will take care of this.  The noise comes from 2 areas but doesnt always happend when you walk over them.  Ideas, suggestions?

Preferably screw the floor down at 4-6" spacing. If you have to nail it, angle the nails slightly and alternate sides. Then install the subfloor for the tile with screws only, glue will cause bubbles underneath due to chemical reaction.
