As someone who is seriously thinking of getting back into the fitness game, I have been doing some research into supplementation.  One of the first I've read about is creatine monohydrate.  It boasts weight gains of up to 15 lbs in two weeks.  I've been described as an ectomorph...hyper-fast metabolism and extremely hard time gaining any weight whatsoever.  At six feet and 140lbs you can see my dilema.  I need some straight scoop on the best form of creatine to implement into my work out regimen.  I really want to gain wieght but because of my metabolism, I want to know what works best.  Any of you in the know would surely be doing me a huge favor.

Creatine is not going to be a magic bullet to gain 15 lbs in a few weeks.

It can result in modest weight gain, but a lot of that will be water.  You need to drink a lot of water while at the same time cut out diuretics from your diet (i.e caffeine).

Creatine affects people in different ways.  I have noticed that I seem to have a bit more stamina and strength about 10-14 days into a 60 day cycle, and will usually end up gaining 5-10 lbs by the end of the cycle.  When I cycle off, most of that weight will go away.

At 6' and 140 lbs a diet high in protein and complex carbs, with moderate fat will probably be worth your consideration.  Your weightlifting regimen should focus on heavy weights/low reps, focusing on movements that will add strength and size (bench press, dead lifts, squats).  You will obiously want to expand your workout to include other exercises and all muscle groups, but I'd focus primarily on those three as you start out.  You will also want to ensure that you adequately rest between your workouts to allow your body to recuperate and grow.

You will have to work out like a monster and eat like one to make the changes that you are looking for.

Good luck,

Bud
