Guys, watch the credit card companies (if you are like me, dumb enough to use them) carefully.

I had a $5 CREDIT (I had overpaid my balance by five dollars) and the credit card company decided that this was actually a balance due, so when I didn't "pay off" my five dollar CREDIT, they imposed a $40 dollar late fee, and raised my interest rate from the 4% that it was to nearly 26%.

My wife spent two or three hours on the phone to straighten things out.  The weekend crew that we spoke with couldn't/wouldn't/didn't do a damn thing except all but call us deadbeats and spoke with us in a very condescending tone.

Banks are desperate  so check your balances carefully, and beware of them moving up the due date.

Willing to share the name of your creditor?

I normally round up to the next $10 mark when I pay them off each month.

All this could have been avoided if you had written "SEE ID" on the back instead of signing it.

oops - nevermind, that's not this kind of CC thread

You got to make sure you look at the whole statement every month to check for errors.

I never use anything but my credit card, pay it off every month, which sometimes hurts but paying intrest is dumb. I have a Mastercard through Sears, been with them since '93 and have no complaints.
I have gotten many free things from the free reward points program.

There has been a couple errors on their part and they didn't hesitate to fix the problem. The due date isn't the same every month and I missed it once and got a finance charge, I called them to ask why the due dates varied they explained and offered to credit back my account for the charge .  I lost my card one time, called them they said "ok, you'll have a new card in about a week" no question asked.

I couldn't ask for a better relationship.

Credit cards should be banned.

Heh. I used a CC for about a year and a half that I forgot to sign. No one ever cared. The only people who ever check my ID are stores that have it as policy.

SEE ID is about as useful as PLEASE DON'T STEAL ME.

Because some people can not handle cards responsibly they should be banned.  Now who does that sound like?

Its kind of fun to get one for the sheer point of buying ammo, mags, and the occasional whistle or two.

That's what they asked my friend when he tried to use his invalid (unsigned) CC at the post office!

Actually they MADE me sign it, right in front of them, right over where it  said "Require ID".  They didn't even ask for an ID.  I scribbled gibbirish on there and she took it.    That's when I gave up on the whole ID thing, now I just scribble on all those touchpads...

sorry for the hijack, but what company is this OP? Chase?
