| Do you review your credit report on a regular basis? Ever find any inaccuracies? |
| I am in the market to buy a home(hopefully) and signed up for a monthly thing from all three agencies. I've been all over mine for the last 8-10 months. Had a bunch of innacuracies deleted, stuff that was my fathers'(I'm a junior) and was able to focus on the stuff that was dragging me down. Recently paid all my bad debt and had it deleted as it was covered under the HIPPA laws.. |

I'm trying to school up on financial issues, I'm 23, in the military, and haven't had to deal with much of it. I was reading that I'm supposed to be able to get a free credit report to review for inaccuracies once per year. I tried to order it online, but two of the three haven't let me do it. Said I need to write in. |

OK, here's the scoop. Go to www.annualcreditreport.com Ignore any of their non-free services. The best way to do it is to stagger the requests every 4 months. In the first 4 you check experian, the next 4 months check equifax and the last 4 check transunion. After a year, start the process all over again. It doesn't matter which order you check them in as long as you're diligent and don't forget (mark your calendar). This method gives you free, year round access to your credit. Check out the forums or ask a question at ClarkHoward.com for tons of info. Hope this helps. |
