what would you recomend for whitetail deer hunting in New England. brand model ect. Thanks BIG |
| I've used 2 Horton Hunters over the past 16 years. The only reason it was 2 is I wanted to upgrade to the split limb model nothing wrong with the old one. Horton seems to be the first name in crossbows around here. I got the "package" with the scope, quiver, ect... No complaints or problems. I use the Thunderhead 125s with the Horton carbon bolts. |

Horton makes a good bow. don't feel like you have to have the most expensive or the fastest. mine is about 15 years old and will shoot to point of aim at 20 yds. it has a turret on the side that is calibrated for 10 yd drops. i upgraded from the scope to a red dot. in the end it's just a bow. not some kind of death dealing deer slayer. |

ten point makes a nice set-up. my buddy just bought one as a kit with scope, quiver, sling, bag, bolts and broadheads. thing is damn fast and accurate. personally i like a compund bow better than a crossbow, but i understand there are circumstances were a crossbow are nescesary. my advise is go out to a few shops and hold a few. they all feel way different in the hands. some are lighter than others. some of the models with the thumbhole stocks feel like they were cut at a wrong angle. you will know when you pick up the right one. do not know anything about you but some states i believe you have a health condition that prevents you from shooting a recurve or compound to shoot a crossbow. good luck with your search |
