Yes. The bankruptcy is part of the sale of the Cubs to the founder of TD Ameritrade. A bankruptcy will free the cubs of any liabilities to Tribune creditors, which should speed the sale of the team.

The selling price is allegedly north of $650 million. Not a bad return on the Tribunes original $20 million investment in the team.
